Patients who use our system are fitted for a set of custom whitening trays. These comfortable trays are designed to precisely fit each individual patient, unlike the over-the-counter products sold in stores, which take a “one size fits all” approach. The custom fit allows maximum whitening while using less whitening gel, because the gel can reach all areas of a patient’s teeth.
We can also customize the trays to make sure they don’t cover sensitive areas of certain teeth and make sure that the trays don’t cover the gum, since some patients’ gums are sensitive to the whitening gel.
Once a patient is fitted with the trays, he or she is given the take-home whitening gel along with instructions for how long to wear the trays each day.
Many patients can see results overnight, with maximum whiteness achieved within 30 to 60 days of daily (or nightly) wear. Another advantage of our system is that the patient controls how white they want their teeth. Once the teeth reach a desired shade, the patient simply stops wearing the trays until a touch-up is needed. Usually, patients can maintain their desired level of whiteness with a touch-up once or twice a year.
